To you Mom
I watched when you were told you were about to be single. I watched when he left. I watched you cry and search for the strength. Then I watched you sit up pull your shoulders back and start moving. You were talking under your breath and walking around the house. You kept nodding.
I was 8 and sis and little brother...just watched to.
I am 43 now. You are my hero ! Every area of my life that is good and strong is because I watched it lived in you..you modeled it perfectly.
We moved alot...we never had nice cars....we never had 10 presents at Christmas. But that never mattered....I dont even remember those things as anything important. I just remember your example.
We knew we were not rich. But we were together. We were always together..Me sis,little bro and YOU. We made the best of everything..cause you did !
When I went to high school and did well in sports....you almost never went to games...because you were working for all of us....I knew that. It was never an issue..we would just talk about the game at home. You always had a way of living your life that showed me what was really important. US not ME. You always showed us how family was the key..as long as we stayed together.
When I went away to college....you just said give your best. That was easy..I watched it given everyday by you. I really used your life as a reminder when I needed more resolve...more moxy...to finish well.
When I lost my way in my early twenties...you weathered the storms..and never judged. You just stood with me. Always there ! Never any doubt ! I am your son...and thats all that mattered to you.
When I found my way. You were there and were eager to celebrate with me! I needed that.
When I found Lisa...you were committed to be a great friend...and you are!
When I had children....you were committed to being part of the next generation....and thankfully you are !
You have been a constant light in my life mom ! I am winning and in many area's on top ! You are my greatest hero ! I love you !
